He has produced some of the greatest releases of Indian cinema like Lunchbox and Haider. “There is no better person to make it than Siddharth Roy Kapoor. He added that Siddharth Roy Kapur has his eye on the other titles as well. I would hope that the entire Company quartet is made in order,” said author and historian William Dalrymple. But the Anarchy being the beginning of the story is the obvious choice for adaptation. I believe any of them would make fantastic movies. “The Anarchy is the beginning of the Company Quartet, followed by the White Mughals, the Return of the King and finally The last Mughal. William Dalrymple too has high expectations from the web series. “While a debate rages today around the world about the increasing power of giant corporations and powerful individuals to wield control over minds and nations, what could be more relevant to global viewers than the true story of the takeover of an entire subcontinent by a small trading company,” shared Siddharth in a statement.

I re-read the story yesterday, and it was just as powerful as I remember it. Here’s my synopsis from my 2012 Vintage Treasures article. “Nightflyers” was one of the first major adventures set in Martin’s “Thousand Worlds” universe, home to much of his early short fiction. It will be published by Tor at the end of the month, in advance of the new series debuting on Syfy later this year. The new edition, with a vibrantly colorful cover from an uncredited artist (above right), is the first over over three decades. It was reprinted two years later with a new cover to tie-in with the 1987 movie version (above middle cover artist unknown). Nightflyers was originally published by Bluejay in 1985, and reprinted in mass market paperback in February 1987 by Tor with a cover by James Warhola (above left). Nightflyers contains six stories, including the Hugo-award winning novella “A Song for Lya,” but by far the most famous tale within is the title story, a science fiction/horror classic which won the Analog and Locus Awards in 1981, and was nominated for a Hugo for Best Novella. So it’s not surprising that much of his back catalog is returning to print, including his 1985 short story collection Nightflyers. In terms of global book sales his only living rivals are J.K. Martin may be the most popular genre writer on the planet. This is My third Don Winslow novel, and I have been blown away each time. The fiction blends perfectly with real events, making the novel feel so real. His writing style reminds me of Mario Puzo meets James Ellroy. Winslow has this writing style that feels so real, he can take you to the past in a blink of an eye while wrapping up the current narrative. I have read the Cartel and it is just as excellent as The Power of the Dog. This is the first book in the Power of the Dog Series, it continues in The Cartel, and in The Border. This book goes through 3 decades of drug traffic starting in the 1970’s to the 2000’s, from Mexico, Columbia and the United States, through the mob, the cartel and the narcos. There’s a scene that will leave you floored as a bad guy does the unthinkable to take down a rival, think Red Wedding from Game of Thrones. This looks at both sides like I have never read before, it shows the good guys having to cross lines they never thought they could cross and the bad guys crossing those lines to keep what they have. You live as the good guys the bad guys and the people in between that are casualties of the drug war. The Power of the Dog by Don Winslow is Scarface and The Godfather rolled into one.
